The 2015 NBHA Midwest Regional Championship sponsored by the Missouri Bird Hunters Association concluded on Dec. 6,2015 at the Greenwood Pointe Hunt Club in New Franklin, MO. The trial, hosted by the Missouri Bird Hunters Association, drew a good entry of 27 Shooting Dogs, 6 Derbies and 6 Puppies. Named Champion was Blackhawk's Flight Risk, Pointer male owned by Marty Meyers Blue Springs, MO and handled by Harold Gearhart, Kingsville, MO. Runner up went to Rebellious Rotten Ralph, English Setter male owned and handled by Mike Luebke, from Reeseville, WI. Whenever you schedule a trial in central Missouri in Dec., you always worry about the weather. On all 3 days the weather was great; mid 30's in the morning and low 50's in the afternoon; with plenty of sunshine. Anytime you put on a trial you need to have good grounds, good birds and good judges. You also have to have a lot of good help and I had some outstanding help. I would like to thank Joe Zimmer, Chris Gebhardt, Danny Martin, Danny Draffen, Dan Crunk, Kevin Western, Tim Penn and Jim Wirths for all their help.

The NBHA National Amateur Championship will be held Feb 12-14, 2016 at the Sportsman's Association Grounds, Grovespring, Mo. The judges for this year's running will be Fred Smith, Mountain View, Mo and Mitch Solt, Central City, Ne. Look for the ad in an upcoming field for more information. This is always a great event over some of the best trial grounds in the Midwest. Covered and outdoor stables, kennels, and clubhouse. RV and trailer hookups on site.

However, members of Cedar Valley FTC want to encourage growth in both walking and horseback trials, therefore we extend opportunities to competitors of each, to enjoy their bird dogs no matter if you are walking or riding.

It�s been a long time since the Tulsa Bird Dog Association (formerly Tulsa Bird Dog Club) was featured here in the American Field. The club held it�s first trial in October 1987 and Allen Vincent wrote the first report. That�s some pretty big shoes to fill, but here we are nearly 30 years later and the TBDA has come full circle. After nearly 20 years being absent from the American Field world, the club held it�s fall trial at the McFarlin-Ingersoll Ranch in Inola, Okla. under the auspices of the Oil Capital Field Trial Association and with the guidance of TBDA member and professional trainer Tom Woods of Adair, Oklahoma.

This year we had decided to run Amateur both days. It turned out to be a good decision drawing 50 between the two days. We had two rough days with very dry conditions and Temps in the 80s. We had a few new comers we welcomed in happily. They were all successful with placements for their 4 legged companions.
