Wichita Bird Dog Club October 25 results

Wichita Bird Dog Club held its annual fall field trial on October 24th and 25th at the spacious Radcliff Ranch outside of Dexter Kansas. This was Wichitas Bird Dog Club first year hosting a NBHA trial. On Saturday Amateur was run and Open on Sunday. WBDC horseback was concurrently run on Friday and Saturday.
Enough cant be said about Paula Radcliff our gracious landowner. She along with Don Beauchamp have allowed Wichita, Bird Dog Club run on these grounds and recently updated the corral/barn. A new walking course was laid out this year due to two trials being run simultaneously. The new course contained at least 4 wild coveys. Special thanks to Frank Shoenborn and WBDC members for setting the course and mowing a path. The trial ran a continuous course in the Flint Hills of Kansas following draws, crossing a creek and opening up through the prairie. Judges had plenty of opportunities to watch dog stretch their legs while hitting a variety of target objectives.
Special thanks to our sponsors. Purina which distributed coupons for the trial and Gun Dog Supply which provided gift certificates to winners. Draw was lower than past few years primary due to influences outside of the WBDC control. We had normal Kansas weather which included rain, high winds and cool mornings.
As of always a thank you for the help during the trial for the club members and other attendees. This was especially difficult with running 2 trials simultaneously. Frank Shoenborn/ Brad Taylor for driving dog wagon, Frank Shoenborn and Chuck Maxson for providing food with accordance to special guidelines and assistance with the trial, Greg Gibson and Bob Lais for scouting and trial assistance. Kluas Schmidt for help with the trial grounds and general help. Brad Taylor for taking entries. Everyone else who pitched in over the weekend.
The participants and club maintained social distancing guidelines and am happy to state there was no reported COVID cases from trailers during or after the event.
We had a judge have to leave at the beginning on the trial. Judge: Eddie Smith- Our deepest condolences
