2014 SW Missouri Walking FTC

We have to start by thanking the AFTCA & NBHA for having great organizations. Purina Pro Plan for their generous support to the NBHA, Gundog Supply for the gift cards, S&H Farm Supply for the use of two UTV's which the bird planters (Skip Bond and James Ogle) and the dog wagon drivers (Kristi and Ivy) put to great use. Our judges Jerry and Kenny Snow for a great job both days. My dad Jerry Ogle for the fish fry Saturday which was a huge success again. My wife and daughter Kristi and Ivy Ogle for keeping dogs on the line, judges watered, lunch and all they done both days to keep things running smoothly. Missouri Department of Conservation for the use of the grounds. Redneck Quail for supplying the birds.
Saturday morning started us off in the low 60's but quickly hit the high 80's. The first brace was set for 8:00 am Jerry and Kenny Snow in the saddle for the Open Shooting Dog. Tom Woods handled Two a GSP male with brace mate Goldie Pointer female handled by Justin Crooks both dogs were picked up early. Our second brace was Eddie Pointer male (Tom W) which was also picked up early. His brace mate Sport a nice Pointer male handled by Jeremy Gulick was placed first with nice run and good bird work.
The Open Derby was next showing promise for next years Shooting Dog class. First place went to Gale Pointer female handled by Andy Neria, with brace mate Maggie Setter female handled by Rob Dowen getting placed 3rd. Bob Barker handled his English Setter Sis to a 2nd place finish.
Rhonda Shephard and Jim Ogle were in the saddle for the judging of the puppies. Kenny Snow had a nice Pointer male Mike which was placed first. His brace mate Mick another Pointer male handled by Justin Crooks placed 2nd. Our third place finisher was another of Kenny's Pointers named Maverick.
With the Snow's back in the saddle we would finish our day with the Amateur Shooting Dog. The weather was heating up and some dogs didn't run well causing a few to be picked up early. We did have some nice dog work which would be rewarded with placements. Pride English Setter male handled by Larry Hedge finished 1st with brace mate Rusty English Setter male handled by Larry Carpenter placing 3rd. Another Setter male Ray (Larry C) having the course to himself after brace mate was picked up would place 2nd.
Amateur Derby would start Sunday morning with six nice Setters and Jerry and Kenny again in the saddle. The first brace placed Ted with handler Joe Zimmer first and brace mate Sadie handled by Jim Ogle second. Our third place finisher would be Maggie handled by Rob Dowen.
The Amateur Puppy would be judged by Justin Crooks and Jeremy Gulick. First place would be Mike Pointer male handled by Kenny Snow and second going to Cody Setter male handled by Larry Carpenter.
The Amateur Gun Dog would put Jerry and Kenny in the judges seat again with 11 dogs to choose from. With the temps rising most dogs done well making the judges decision harder. Rowdy Harris would place two dogs with Cinna Setter female placing first and Moxy Pointer female placing second. Skip Bond handled his GSP male to a third place finish.
We finished up at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon. It was very nice to have so many people complementing how good the judges were and how smoothly the trial went. This is not possible without so many people volunteering their time to judge, plant birds, cook, get dogs to and from the line. Thank you all for your support and making this a great trial and weekend.
