2014 Tallapoosa Field Trial Club Spring Trial

The Tallapoosa Field Trial Club hosted its third and final trial for the current season on Feb. 22nd the home of Marty and Linda Robinson. We had beautiful weather for the trial and it appeared all in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There is just not many things as enjoyable as seeing the sunrise over well-manicured field trial grounds hearing the call of the early morning quail and the barking dogs that will soon be unleashed in pursuit. The scurrying about of handlers and the prancing around of a fine field trial horse gets my blood flowing lie nothing else. We are truly blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy such a great sport full of the camaraderie and each and every element making up a field trial. We are so proud to be a National Bird Hunter Club and we are so proud to be supported by such wonderful national sponsors who make all this possible. Purina Pro Plan is so important to our organizations and the feed they produce really shows itself in the performances of the dogs that get their nutrition and energy from that product. Garmin is another sponsor who provides significant support to the NBHA and I believe every dog turned loose at the trial was adorned with a Garmin tracking collar. Rounding out our national sponsors who are so important to us are Gundog Supply and Christie Enterprises.
We had two incredible Gentlemen filling our judicial saddles this trial in Joe Norris of Arab, AL and Carl Knight of Canton, GA. Both Joe and Carl were very attentive to each entrant and are very generous to give of their time. Both men are very knowledgeable as the attributes of a field trial winner and both are as fair and honest as anyone you could have performing this task. We appreciate them greatly for agreeing to judge the trial for us.
We had our usual cast of characters who make the Tallapoosa club work. Danny Robinson took great care to make sure we had ample birds on the course and located in areas where a dog could show good as he searched and found them. Randy Robinson and Kevin Berry kept the gallery wagon humming around the course much to the enjoyment of those spectators who wanted an “up close and personal” look at the happenings taking place. Stanley McCain is always on hand to provide many of the trial essentials and handle the club Treasury duties. We had a wonderful lunch of Chili, Lima beans and sausage, and all the trimmings prepared by Pat Awalt, Whitney and Kevin berry, Debra Robinson and Linda Robinson.
We would like to thank all those who came and ran dogs in the event. Oscar Whitt brought his fine string of dogs over from Attalla, AL and “Wow”, does he have some nice derbies running this year. It was good having Joe Barton join us from Sandersville along with his Grandson, who was at his first trial, Drew Bates. Ed Cooley came over from Arab, AL and the long distance drive award goes to Candi Fresa who traveled down from Asheville, NC and ran a nice looking setter male in the morning Derby stake. As those who host trials know, it takes us all pulling together to make a trial successful and to really keep our sport thriving and so enjoyable. We thank each and every one who took of their time to make this trial successful and enjoyable. In a couple months, we will close out another field trial season here in Georgia and we will start immediately working on the grounds and getting things ready for the 2014/2015 season. We hope you will come run with us and visit with us anytime you can and we so appreciate everyone’s continued support of our club.
