Etowah County (AL) NBHA Trial

We were bless with a beautiful day for our Field Trial, and I might add a very busy one, we had a full days running with a short lunch break. It was good to have Bobby and Mildred Taylor come and bring their dogs and Bobby joined Brud Powell to judge the Open Derby. David Lovern came from Georgia to run his Derby, David is a real likable man, seemed to enjoy the day and promised to come to come back. Hall of Fame, Buddy Smith came from Tennessee to run his derbies and he was good enough to judge the Amateur Shooting Dog with Ken Tolbert.

Terry Amberson worked hard all day doing whatever needed done, plus helping furnishing lunch and cold drinks, water. Teresa Green (Ken Tolbert's daughter that grew up with birddogs and field trials) came to our rescue with extra food and help. Teresa will be helping her Dad with the Blount County trial and the Ala Reg. with the Mid-South in January, thanks Teresa.

Mr. Charles Aston came south with his daughter Lynn to watch his two shooting dogs run, we sure have missed him this fall'. Brud Powell and Ed Cooley judged the Open Shooting Dog and both competed in the Amateur Shooting dog stake.

The Open Shooting Dog saw seven good dogs come the line, and only two got around clean. Marty Robinson's pointer male (Going For Broke) did a real nice job for the nod for first and Bill Garner's Pinncale's Elhew Dream was second with a classy race and two broke finds.

The Amateur Shooting Dog saw Marty come in first again with his Attitude's River Kate (Star). Richard Davis took second with his Brittany male (Coke), Richard is a veteran field trial man, but his first NBHA and he loved it. Marty rounded out third with his Going For Broke (Buddy).

The Open Derby saw ten young exciting hopefuls come to the line. When the dust settled there was some good derby performances and some fine futures to look forward to. Standley McCain's setter Money got the first place nod for a scorching ground race always to the front, and two really nice finds with shooting dog manners. Marty Robinson's Lady took second with a really big race and one nice find. Mike Otinger's Sand Mountain Will rounded out the placements with a also big race and one find. Ronnie Bryant's Tye, puppy aged derby was next in line with a find and a classy race, but he had the bit in his mouth and it seemed to affect his hearing, but time will cure his hearing, and then look out!

The National Bird Hunters are blessed to have our sponsors Purina, Gundog Supply, Garmin/Tritronics and Christie Enterprises.
Yall come and join us sometime!
