2013 Somerset Bird Dog Club Trial News

We had a beautiful day for a field trial, cool morning and temperatures up to 60 in the evening. We got started about 7:45 and didn’t finish until dark. Thanks to everyone for all their help.

The Open Shooting Dog winner was Branscum’s Bad Company owned by Milton Miller and handled by Mike Branscum. Bad ran to the front and his bird work was to perfection. Second place was Stars Southern Idol owned by Jim Humphrey and handled by Mike Branscum. Summer scorched the ground and handled his birds like a pro. Third place went to Jaike, a beautiful English setter male owned and handled by Marty Staker. All three were very nice dogs.

The Open Derby winner was Branscum’s Bad Company owned by Milton Miller and handled by Mike Branscum. Again, Bad went and stayed to the front and handled his game like an older dog. Second place was awarded to Prickley Ash Jaye and up and coming E. Setter male owned by Sam and Taylor Purvis and handled by Sam Purvis. Third place went to Hi Tails Santa’s Helper a tail popping E. Pointer owned by Brett Francis and handled by Adam Ferguson. This was a very nice derby class.

Open Puppy winner was Branscum’s Ginn owned by Dawson Jasper and handled by Mike Branscum. Second place was Prickley Ash Pepper owned by Sam and Kaylee Purvis and handled by Sam Purvis. Third place was Prickley Ash Tye owned by Sam and Taylor Purvis and handled by Sam Purvis. This was an exceptional puppy class with puppies hunting like old dogs. The future looks bright for this class.

AM Shooting Dog class was won by Vitali’s Grouseringer Purdy owned and handled by Gary Vitali. Purdy did a very nice job on the ground and her bird work was very good. Second place was awarded to Jaike owned and handled by Marty Staker. Jaike ran the course nice and was clean on bird work. Third place belonged to Vitali’s Grouseringer Sam I Am owned and handled by Gary Vitali.

The Am Derby winner was Forstar Grandiose a pretty E. Setter female owned and handled by Bob Fortune. Susie did a nice job for her handler. The rest of the class didn’t want to respond to their handlers so well.

AM Puppy class was won by Prickley Ash pepper owned by Sam and Kaylee Purvis and handled by Sam Purvis. Second place was Prickley Ash Tye owned by Sam and Taylor Purvis and handled by Sam Purvis. Third place belonged to Shooter a snappy little setter male owned and handled by Levi Hardison.
