News from the NEW Hawkeye Bird Hunters Club
Hawkeye Bird Hunters Club recently held a trial in West Liberty, IA. Watch for the results to be posted soon! Here are the highlights...
Judging the Open Shooting Dog were Loyd Bozeman, owner of the HOF Setter Bozeann’s Mosely from New Boston, IL and Les Neer also an experienced trialer and judge from Smithville, MO. Winning the shooting dog was Preacher, a setter male formerly owned by Iowan Dennis Ireland and now in the string of Ryan Eichelberger. The Derby was won by Brent Hoehns of Knoxville Iowa with his snappy pointer female and Larry Carpenter took first and second in the Open Puppy stake with his good young setters. First time trialer, Matt Brown from Eastern Iowa ran his pointer female Khloe to a third place finish. The Club signed up eight new members from hosting this trial. Not a lot of entries but the grounds are excellent with plenty of water along the courses, good judges to look at the dogs and great food wrangled by Dennis Ireland. NBHA welcomes the Hawkeye Club into the NBHA fraternity. It was good to see Ken Black come over from Illinois to turn loose a young shooting dog as well and to catch up with Loyd Bozeman.
