News from the Etowah County Trial

Etowah County conducted our fall field trial November 5th on the grounds of Ken Tolbert's kennels. We were blessed with great weather and good hospitality.
There were no puppies entered and only four derbies but, we had twelve open shooting dogs and six amateur shooting dogs. We would have had more amateur dogs if it had not been for the Alabama and LSU football game that afternoon.
We would like to give a big thank you to sponsors Purina Pro Plan for their great support of the NBHA events and for the great results of their fine dog food. Gun Dog Supply donated two $25 gift certificates that were drawn for from all participants and visitors and were won by Joe Norris and Harold Boyett.
We have to thank our judges Gary Beam form Arab judged all stakes and Brud Powell helped Gary judge the Open Shooting Dog and Ken Tolbert joined Gary to evaluate the Open Derbies and Amateur Shooting Dogs. Joe Norris planted birds all day and anything else that needed a helping hand, Bruce Norris was a man of many hats, doing whatever need done from scouting to running Amateur Dogs for Mike Otinger who was out of country on business, Hope Whitaker who had to school. Pat Whitt served up a great barbecue lunch which was enjoyed by all.
The placements in the Open Shooting Dog were, 1st Eboga Lil Star owned by Charles Aston and handled by Ken Tolbert, 2nd went to Royal Attitude owned and handled by Edwin Cooley, and Deputy Dog rounded out the placements.
In the Amateur Shooting Dog, Sand Mountain Spirit took 1st and Mr. Spudley got 2nd with Bruce Norris handling, and Judy's Miss Crickett got 3rd for owner /handler Bill Garner.
The Open Derby was won by Shadow's Misty Lee owned and handled by Bruce Norris, Brady owned by Marty Robinson and handled by Oscar Whitt got the 2nd place.
Thanks to all
