2014 National Amateur Shooting Dog Classic

The NBHA National Amateur Shooting Dog Classic began on December 13 at Berea, KY. This was the first year for the classic, coinciding with the National Amateur Invitational Championship. The running was on a second course at the Central KY wildlife Management Area. The weather was cool and over cast with little wind. Judging the stake were Greg Sloan and Brett Francis both of Kentucky.

2015 Midwest Regional CH

The 2015 NBHA Midwest Regional Championship concluded on Jan 4 at the Whetstone Wildlife Management Area at Williamsburg, Mo. The trial, hosted by the Missouri Bird Hunters Association, drew a good entry of 21 Shooting dogs, 14 Derbies and 6 Puppies.

2015 NBHA National Amateur CH

The Alabama and Georgia Regions joined forces to promote and conduct the National Bird Hunters National Amateur Shooting Dog Championship and The Amateur Derby classic. The Field Trial Committee had the opportunity to secure a date at the J.L.Lester WMA, located at Cedartown, Georgia and the credit goes to Bruce Mercer for securing our dates. Marty Robinson was the man with the plan, to clean up the courses, aided by Terry Amberson and Bruce Mercer. Marty furnished the equipment and he, Terry and Bruce spent a three day weekend, which involved twelve hour days.

2015 NBHA Midwest Regional

The upcoming 2015 NBHA Midwest Regional will be held at Whetstone Conservation Area - MO. Due to the low amount of row crops and mowing that is needed, it has been determined, by the trial chairman and committee, that the course that has been used in the past will not be ready to start the Midwest Regional.

Jerry Kilgore

Mr. Jerry Kilgore of Lebanon, TN passed away on December 19th. Jerry was instrumental in starting the NBHA Futurity, the oldest walking shooting dog futurity in the country with its inaugural running in 1987. Due to his efforts, Jerry was rewarded as the namesake for the accompanying puppy stake. The Jerry Kilgore Puppy Classic was launched shortly after and has evolved into one of the better 30 minute puppy stakes anywhere.

2014/15 NBHA Free for All National CH

The 2014/15 NBHA National Free For All Championship concluded on November 23rd at the Sportsman Association Grounds at Grove Spring Missouri. The trial, Hosted by the Missouri Bird Hunters Association, drew a good entry of 20 top flight shooting dogs, 6 derbies, and 6 puppies. Crowned Champion was Ninnescah War Dance, stylish white and liver pointer male owned and handled by Keith Foreman of Sulfur, Oklahoma. Runner up went to the seasoned veteran setter Kozican, owned by Bobby & Mildred Taylor of Winfield, Alabama, and handled by Bobby Taylor.

2014 Southeast Regional Championship

South Carolina NBHA held its South East Regional Championship at the H. Cooper Black Field Trial Grounds in Patrick, SC. These grounds only get better each year. The PRT employees really take a lot of pride in making sure the grounds are groomed and look their best. The weather was cool and windy the first day and cold on the second day. These conditions made it hard for the dogs to find birds both days. The judges announced were not able to judge so we had to find judges on Tuesday and the trial started on Friday. Quintin Wiseman and Doug Miller were the judges. Mr. Wiseman is from Georgia and Mr. Miller is from South Carolina. These gentlemen did an outstanding job and their decisions were accepted very well.
