NBHA

Jerry Kilgore

Jerry Kilgore has been a source of enthusiasm for the NBHA in Tennessee since its inception. He was actively involved in the organization of the Mid-State Bird Hunters in 1981. He was actively involved in the organization of the Tennessee Bird Hunters Association and in 1995 helped to organize the Novella Field Trial Club. He has held almost all offices in the State of Tennessee. He was Vice-President from 1981-1982, President from 1982 to 1984 and State Director from 1984 to 1985. Jerry has also held numerous offices at the national level. From 1984 to 1985 he was Second Vice President. From 1985 to 1987 he was the NBHA National Secretary. In 1985 he started taking nominations for the NBHA Futurity. From 1985 to 1994, he was Chairman and Secretary of the NBHA Futurity. In 1995 to 2002, he was the Director of the NBHA Futurity. He initiated the Futurity Puppy Classic, named the Jerry D. Kilgore Puppy Classic at the summer meeting in Branson, MO in 1997. Jerry has owned several successful dogs in the NBHA. His favorite dog was named Bob or Lee's High Rebel. From 1995 to 1996 he was the owner of the Tennessee Bird Hunters Open Shooting Dog of the Year, Lakota Jim, which was handled by Terry Harris.

Jerry's enthusiasm and hard work are directly responsible for the NBHA Futurity's success and his warmth, hospitality, depth of emotion are known nationwide. Jerry has been the unofficial photographer and historian for the NBHA since its inception and almost all of the photographs in Peggy Givens history of the NBHA were taken by Jerry.
